We’ve proudly completed several complex construction projects for Kronospan in Wrexham, a global leader in wood-based panel production. Our work for Kronospan includes a variety of essential structures, such as service pits, recycling pits, radius tanks, combustion chambers, bunker pits, as well as bases and plinths for heavy industrial equipment. Each project required precision engineering and careful execution to meet the demanding specifications of an industrial environment. Our team delivered robust, long-lasting solutions that support Kronospan’s operations, contributing to their ongoing production efficiency and sustainability efforts.
Service Pits
We were tasked with constructing a recycling pit and warehouse facility for a cutting-edge wood recycling project aimed at producing MDF boards. This project required specialised infrastructure to support the efficient processing and recycling of wood waste into sustainable, high-quality MDF, contributing to a circular economy approach in the materials industry.
The recycling pit serves as the primary collection and sorting area, where wood waste is gathered and prepared for the recycling process. Engineered for durability, the pit design accommodates heavy-duty processing equipment and efficient waste management, ensuring a seamless workflow from collection to material refinement. The adjoining warehouse is designed for optimal storage and organisation, housing both raw materials and finished MDF boards ready for distribution. With carefully planned layouts and reinforced structural elements, the warehouse supports the extensive handling and storage needs essential to continuous production.
Radius Tanks
The radius tanks were designed to safely store and mix bonding agents, with a focus on robust materials that withstand the specific chemical properties and volumes required for MDF production. Each tank was engineered for precise temperature control and mixing, ensuring consistency in the bonding agents that give MDF boards their strength and stability.
The combustion chamber plays a critical role in powering the production process, providing controlled heat necessary for chemical activation. Built with reinforced steel and concrete, the chamber ensures safety and efficiency, supporting the continuous high-temperature needs of the bonding process.
